Physical Therapy provides a comprehensive look at the muscular, nervous, and skeletal systems. It addresses each of the systems and also how they work together to receive the best possible outcome. Physical Therapy is the only treatment form that takes all of these systems into account. It promotes healing, retrains neurological pathways, facilitates strengthening and reduces scarring and muscle imbalances.

We treat the cause of the injury and not just the symptoms. We teach you to eliminate the pain and to control chronic symptoms through strengthening, posture, and body mechanics independently. You do not have to keep coming back for "maintenance" treatments, which help lower overall medical costs. Physical Therapy returns you to your previous activity level quicker and with strategies to prevent re-injury. It is conservative, non-invasive, and the only "side effects" of this form of pain relief are improved function and a feeling of well-being.

Treatment is multi-faceted and can include:

  • Gentle hands-on work including joint and soft tissue mobilization as well as massage
  • Targeted strengthening and stretching (not just WHAT to do but HOW to do it correctly)
  • Functional training related to everyday life, return to work, fitness or sports competition
  • Self-help ideas and individualized home exercise programs
  • Modalities such as traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat or ice when appropriate
  • Education for prevention of future injuries, healthy aging, and fitness
