Physical, Occupational, & Speech Therapy
Monday - Thursday 8am - 5pm
Friday 8am -12pm
We serve children from birth to 21 years in a variety of settings, including outpatient pediatric clinic, preschool, schools, and Infant and Toddler Services. Our pediatric clinic includes a sensory gym, fully equipped with a ball-pit, trampoline and swing to meet the needs of your child. We are well prepared to perform pediatric swallow studies; we partner with Geary Community Hospital to perform these studies and their adjustable radiation levels reduce radiation exposure for children.
Pediatric Physical Therapy
When it comes to the littlest of our patients, we can’t treat them like we would adults. We aim to improve the lives and daily function of children suffering from a wide range of congenital and acquired conditions.
How Is Pediatric Physical Therapy Different from “Regular” Physical Therapy?
Pediatric Physical Therapy is a specialized form of Physical Therapy, provided by clinicians who have specific training in this area. It incorporates knowledge from several dimensions of practice – mainly neurological, orthopedic and developmental. Unlike adults, young children may not understand exactly why they're in therapy; play, family involvement and one-on-one care are essential tools for success. The role of a pediatric therapist is to work with the child and their family to assist each child to reach their maximum potential to function independently and to promote active participation at the home, in school, and in the community.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Pediatric Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children develop the skills they need to grow into functional, independent adults. Physical impairment, injuries and a host of other issues can hamper a child's ability to perform common tasks or progress normally through the stages of social or cognitive development.
Pediatric Speech Therapy
Speech-Language Pathologist, or Speech Therapist (ST), evaluate and treat those who have deficits in speech sound production, fluency, language (expressive and/or receptive, voice, social communication, cognitive communication, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), hearing, feeding, and swallowing. Geary Rehabilitation’s Speech and Language Department offers comprehensive speech-language evaluation and therapy services to children birth-21years of age. Frequently, the cause of a speech and language delay and/or disorder is unknown. However, there can be specific causes which may include hearing loss, neurological disorders, intellectual disability, physical impairment, vocal abuse or misuse, prematurity, or genetics.
